I have many Bastion pens, I really like the girth of the barrel. But a pair of stainless steel bastions pens (1-black & 1-blue) in my shirt pocket is quite weighty! This G-10 Bastion Pen solves that problem! It has the same build quality as all of the other bastion pens I own. G-10 does have to be worn in though. As with all the knives I have with G-10 scales, the longer I carry those knives with G-10 scales, the more I like the feel of the scales. As much as I like the pen now, the weight, the feel, the quality, I know it will only get better! Now if Bastion would only make a G-10 in blue, so that I can have a matching pair.....

G-10 is an unusual material for pens.
Most "plastic" pens are made by injecting liquid (or goo-like) poly-ethyl-alphabet-soup into a mold, shaped like the final product. As soon as the plastic cures/cools/hardens, you have your final product.
G-10 is actually made by taking glass fibre, weaving it into a cloth-like matrix, soaking it in a specific resin (plastic), layering these wet cloths on top of each other (until desired thickness is achieved), and pressing it all together. Heat and pressure will harden the material, making it harder than woodpecker lips. Think of how plywood is made; same principle, but different materials. This sheet of G-10 is then cut, shaped, machined, drilled, and smoothed to give it the desired shape. The result is a pen that has (almost) as many parts as a Bastion Metal pen, except for the clip. Whereas the metal pens have a clip made from some metal, held on by two Allen screws, the G-10 pen's clip appears to be "carved" from the same block of material as the upper part of the body, and there are no screws. The clip is stiff and sturdy, won't ever "fall off", but if you break it off, it can't be replaced. The machining is to the same standard as the metal pens, with a seamless joint between the barrel and the tip, but...since the parts of the pen are machined from layered material, the surface shows some of the inner structure, similar to how woodgrain is shown on turned/lathed wood. So, while you would have a difficult time finding a seam based only on diameter changes, or a noticeable gap between barrel and tip, there is a cosmetic difference; the curvature of the tip's bullet-like shape exposes the glass fiber matrix differently than the cylindrical shape of the barrel. The machined surface of the pen is not quite as smooth as, say, the Stainless Steel pen, but there's just enough texture to improve grip on this very light pen.
Operating this pen is not quite as smooth as (most of) my Bastion metal pens, but is by no means a hindrance to using this pen. I suspect that continuous use will smooth out/break in the moving parts over time.

Very nice pen really light good grip writes smooth. a little pricy I feel but I am not aware of the cost to make a super light pen in G10. I do have one minor complaint I believe easily fixable I feel the bolt sticks to far out need to make another bolt that is shallower that could be purchase to replace current I would be first in line to buy it.
