This pen is nice. The construction and precision of the pen is the best I’ve seen in a pen. The line between the tip and the body where the tip screws off is not visible when the pen is assembled, which is something you have to see to believe. Four stars for weight. I have average sized man hands and this pen is too heavy. Weighs almost as much as my phone. I will continue to use it for journaling, but not in the office.

Since this is a tactical style pen it MUST write at any angle. The QuinkFlow cartridge that comes with the pen will provide frustrations galore, throw it out like spoiled food before it makes you sick. Buy separately and put in a Fisher Space Pen refill (pressurized cartridge) slide the Parker style adapter onto the top of the refill as you see in my picture. Enjoy a decent pen.

It’s a good solid pen. I’m a machinist and I carry this pen in my apron everyday at work. When it arrived it was seamless. After some use the seam at the writing end of the pen appeared. The seam could be felt. Not a big deal in a shop environment.It is heavy and takes a bit getting used to. I’d definitely prefer a skinnier pen, about 3/8”, but don’t have a problem with this 1/2” size.The mechanism works well and is addicting if left in your hand. It is loud if you don’t control it through its motion. The Bastion cartridge didn’t live through a chest height fall to the concrete, while extended, but the rest of the pen is unharmed. Pocket clip is in a good location and has held up well.

UPDATE: I contacted Bastion and they are sending a replacement pocket clip.  Very quick reply, great customer service.The pen is great, heavy, sturdy, etc. The clip is garbage! The pocket clip broke just under the second screw inside of three months. I never did more than write with it and slide it back into my pocket. It didn’t last long unfortunately. Looks like it’s back to a Zebra 701 for a while, 😞

The steel version weighs in at 2.75 ounces. To give perspective, my parker pen weighs in at 0.5 ounces. If you want to have a unique pen that performs smoothly, provides a certain level of security and makes a statement when someone asks for a pen, then this is the pen for you.  My one true gripe is it does not come in a 1mm version; to fit with the exterior.  If you are going to write your memoirs by hand, cancel the order...now onto the titanium version.
