Stainless Steel - SLIM Bolt Action Pen by Bastion®

I was skeptical of the overall fit and finish, but I ordered pen just to see.  I own many expensive pens including Mont Blancs, Caran D'Ache, Parker Duofolds, Vicsontis and some custom pens.  I believe the Bastion is as good or better than any of them.This of course is built like a tank, but it has great lines and fits the hand perfectly.  Its heft creates a sense of substance.  I actually like that it  is a little heavier than an aluminum or titanium because it assists with the pressing of the pen and relieves some hand strain.The fit and finish are perfect.  The tolerance of the fit for the barrel and end are so tight that the line between the two disappears.  The bolt functions smoothly and without catching.  It is quite fidgetable!  The refill that comes with the pen is very smooth and dark.  I really like it, but I changed it for a Fischer Space Pen refill which fit perfectly and functions without a flaw.If you are looking for a great investment in a pen for yourself or as a gift, you won't go wrong with a Bastion Slim bolt action pen in stainless steel.

I have several Bastion pens, but I am probably most fond of the slim version, especially for longer periods of writing and note-taking. Its as solid as the normal Bastion pens but lighter and a bit easier to grip for extended periods.

The G2 refill compatibility was a bit misleading as didn’t specify which G2, but I should’ve researched it more. I already had some G2 refills left after my other pens’ pocket clip broke, but these don’t fit this pen so I will need to find out which G2 refills will. That being said, I went ahead and tried this new pen out and have liked using it. It has a nice weight and is comfortable to hold. The pocket clip, which seem to break off after short time of use on other pens, seems to be more sturdy and hopefully will last longer than other pens I’ve bought.

Beautiful pen, strong and very well made, fits nicely in the hand. The ink isn't as dark as I'd prefer though. I've been looking for something similar with a fine point or possibly gel and I cannot find it.

I love the aesthetics of these pens!The Good:- nicely sized, very pocketable- good positioning and throw distance on the bolt action- seamless tip on the steel version is very cool- included ballpoint is... well... a ballpoint. Update: Had intended to replace with a Schneider Gelion+, but see below...The Bad:- The Steel version is VERY heavy- the bolt action is very gravelly. Not sure if this is a manufacturing flaw on my pen, or a universal issue. Tried adding some silicone grease, but that hasn't helped much.- Limited cartridge compatibility: Does NOT work with the Schneider Gelion+ cartridge or Uni 600 Jetstream cartridge! Very disappointing.I also tried the Blue Aluminum version. While it is MUCH lighter and has a smoother action, it doesn't have the seamless look that the steel has. However, it does accept the other cartridges.Conclusion: I'm hoping Bastion responds and helps me out with the rough action. Otherwise, I like the pen, but I'd have a hard time recommending it to others.
